SafetyCube Presentation at ITF Summit on Transport Safety and Security – May 2018

The ITF summit took place on 23-25 May 2018 in Leipzig, Germany. Special focus was also given on the European road safety Decision Support System developed within the SafetyCube project.

SafetyCube Webinar on the DSS – April 2018
/0 Comments/in General /by Alexandra LaiouOn April 10, 2018 at 11.00 CET a webinar on the European road safety Decision Support System (DSS) took place. The webinar concerned a one-hour training session for the use of the DSS, in which the system was presented, including the alternative options and the various queries that users can make in order to have access to the knowledge of the DSS, as well as the available results.
The team of the EU Project SafetyCube presented all functionalities of the powerful tool (www.roadsafety-dss.eu) and provided hands-on examples. Read more →

SafetyCube European Conference on Better Decision Making for Road Safety, Vienna – March 2018
/in General /by Alexandra LaiouSafetyCube-FinConf-pres-Guillaume-Mar2018The SafetyCube European Conference on Better Decision Making for Road Safety was held successfully with more than 150 participants on 22-23 March 2018, at Palais Auersperg in the city centre of Vienna, Austria. The SafetyCube project started on March 1st, 2015 and ran for a period of three years. Its results were presented in the conference, with special focus on the SafetyCube Decision Support System (DSS), which is the primary objective of the project. The DSS is expected to enable policy-makers and stakeholders to select and implement the most appropriate strategies, measures and cost-effective approaches to reduce casualties of all road user types and all severities in Europe and worldwide.
The conference brought together experts, stakeholders and decision makers from across Europe to discuss the latest developments in road safety: European Commission, FERSI, ETSC, IRTAD, FIA, individual research institutes, consultants as well as national, regional and local road safety experts. There was simultaneous interpretation in English and German.

SafetyCube Video on Road Safety DSS in 90 seconds released – March 2018

SafetyCube Decision Support System – January 2018

Pete Thomas from Loughborough University was published in the second newsletter of the “SaferAfrica: African-European Dialogue Platform on Road Safety” project. The article titled “SafetyCube DSS: the first integrated Road Safety Decision Support System developed in Europe” presents the European DSS developed within the SafetyCube project. The DSS was developed by 17 organisations from 12 different countries and it offers for the first time scientific evidence on a large number of risk factors and related road safety countermeasures. Its main objective is to enable policy makers to substantiate their road safety decisions for actions, measures, programmes, policies and strategies to be implemented at local, national and European level.

/0 Comments/in General /by Alexandra LaiouOn 2 November 2017, Prof. Pete Thomas from Loughborough University presented the European road safety Decision Support System (DSS) to the Parliamentary Advisory Council in the British House of Commons. There were over 50 road safety policy-makers and practitioners as well as Members of Parliament and of the House of Lords. The meeting was also attended by Jesse Norman, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Department for Transport who has responsibility for road safety. There was a considerable interest in the DSS and requests for further information about specific road safety risks and measures.

SafetyCube is a research project funded by the European Commission under Horizon 2020, the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, started in 2015 with primary objective to develop an innovative road safety decision support system. The SafetyCube DSS is a unique and rich road safety resource for every decision maker, stakeholder and expert who investigates road safety risks or reviewing safety countermeasures. The SafetyCube DSS provides for the first time comprehensive links between road safety risk factors and respective countermeasures.
